A Very Viterbo Christmas

Merry Christmas!

The holiday season got off to a jolly start with the annual Viterbo Alumni Children's Christmas Party in the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration Lobby at the Fine Arts Center. Much fun was had, as you can see from the photo album on Flickr.

We've also got photos from the winter commencement ceremony on Dec. 14, at which degrees were conferred upon 138 undergraduate students and 38 master's degree students.

win All-America honors.

Volleyball V-Hawks Cap Stellar Year
The Viterbo women's volleyball team compiled a 35–7 record this year, ending the season one game short of the final round in the NAIA National Championship Tournament. The semifinal match against Westmont College in Sioux City, Iowa, was the fifth time in program history the V-Hawks had progressed that far.

After the national tournament, three members of the team were named to NAIA women's volleyball All-America teams. Katie Frohmader earned her first career All-America award, being named to the first team.

Meanwhile, Maya Roberts was named to the NAIA All-America second team, and Miah Garant was honored with All-America honorable mention.

Help Needed for New Book
of Prayers and Reflections

The Viterbo University Mission Integration Committee is working on a new edition of a book containing prayers and reflections. We are seeking help in locating or composing submissions for the book that draw on the five core values of the Viterbo community: (contemplation, hospitality, integrity, stewardship, and service).

These prayers or reflections may be general or intended for specific use at meetings and events, certain times of the year, or particular life events. Prayers and reflections may be submitted online. Contact Emily Dykman for more information.

Celestine Scholarships Offered for Children of Alums

Each year, in the name of Celestine Cepress, FSPA, the Viterbo Alumni Association board awards one or more one-time scholarships of at least $1,000 to freshmen or transfer students whose parents or legal guardians are Viterbo University graduates.

Criteria for the scholarships are as follows:

Must be a new, incoming freshman or transfer student.
Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
A parent or legal guardian must have earned at least 45 credits at Viterbo.

In addition, children of alumni admitted prior to Jan. 15 may be eligible for a renewable $1,000 annual alumni scholarship.

Students must apply by Jan. 15 to be eligible. Find more details about freshman cost and aid on the admission page.

Homecoming Celebrates 47 Years of Viterbo Sports

Mark Feb. 15, 2020, on your calendar so you won’t miss Viterbo’s Homecoming celebration, celebrating 47 years of Viterbo athletics.

At this year’s Homecoming we will honor a new set of Wall of Fame inductees (Joe Dunham, Katie Flock, Chad Miller, and Steph Wisen) and recognize the 1999 men’s soccer team, pictured above. That soccer team won 19 straight regular season conference games and earned a third straight conference championship.

Homecoming will feature women’s and men’s alumni basketball games, V-Hawk games, and a complimentary social. Watch for more details in next month’s newsletter.
