| Tribune names Weisenbeck 2019 Person of the Year
Marlene Weisenbeck, FSPA, has been added to the list of people with Viterbo University ties to be named La Crosse Tribune Person of the Year.
A 1967 Viterbo graduate, Sr. Weisenbeck was honored as the 2019 Person of the Year, in large part because of her efforts in fighting human trafficking, but also for her decades of leadership in the community.
The Tribune launched the award in 2002, and the first three recipients all had connections to Viterbo—LeClare Beres, FSPA, Viterbo President Bill Medland, and John Medinger, a Viterbo Board of Advisors member. The fourth recipient, Scott Mihalovic, now is a Viterbo faculty member. Over the years, others with strong Viterbo connections have won the honor, including Don Weber, Dave and Barb Skogen, and Mike Desmond.
Check out the Tribune story honoring Sr. Weisenbeck.

| Educators, Fly the Viterbo University Flag at Your Schools
Calling all Viterbo alumni educators: The office of alumni relations and admissions would love to hear from you.
We know there are school districts that boast a high concentration of Viterbo alums, and we want to hear about it and celebrate them.
For example, the Independence school district has a total of seven staff members who earned degrees or certificates at Viterbo. Members of the Viterbo family in Independence include, pictured above from left, Dawn Woychik (guidance counselor/curriculum director), Sarah Suchla ’08 (second grade teacher), Hunter Evenson ’18 (music teacher), Lauren Brodsky (reading teacher), Amber Guza ’13 (high school science), Melissa Pientok ’07 (assistant principal), and (missing from picture) Patti Klimek ’10 (student services secretary).
Email the alumni office if you work in a district with a Viterbo family and would like to share your Viterbo stories. You may also email Abby Brueggen and provide your name, where and what you teach, T-shirt size, and mailing address. We will send you a Viterbo University pennant for your classroom and a Viterbo T-shirt.
