Viterbo's Global Citizens |
|
In The Innocents Abroad, Mark Twain's best-selling book during his lifetime, the author extols the virtue of seeing the world. "Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness," Twain writes. "Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime." This month, we share stories of Viterbo alumni who have traveled, lived, and worked abroad. |

A High (and Frequent) Flyer
As an inner-city Milwaukee kid, Adrian Boyd ’92 didn’t see himself being a world traveler. His basketball skills and work ethic, however, led to him logging countless miles as a pro basketball player and entrepreneur, making a particularly big splash in New Zealand.

The Places She's Gone
The theme of the high school commencement speech Renee (Heuss) Volk ’99 gave, taken from a Dr. Seuss book, was telling: “Oh, the Places You’ll Go!” The travel-loving mother of four has seen much of the world and now lives in a 300-year-old house in Germany.

Trim Taxes with an IRA Rollover Gift
While Viterbo's mission takes many forms, at the core is our desire to serve others and make this world a better place. Many people are discovering they can make a big difference to help further our mission with an IRA charitable rollover gift. Consider designating Viterbo as a beneficiary of your IRA.
An IRA charitable rollover provides several benefits. It allows you to transfer up to $100,000 from your IRA directly to a nonprofit this year. You pay no taxes on the transfer and your gift counts dollar-for-dollar to support our mission.
Call your IRA administrator now for more information on how to make the IRA rollover work for you. You also can email Eric Schmidt, director of major and planned gifts, or call him at 608-796-3078.
