Faces of Servant Leadership

Viterbo University's Distinguished Professor of Servant Leadership Tom Thibodeau was a mentor to Dr. Scott Rathgaber, chief executive officer of Gundersen Health System, for several years before Rathgaber decided to go beyond getting a veritable master class from Thibodeau. Thirty years after earning his doctoral degree, Rathgaber decided to pursue a master's degree in servant leadership, graduating in 2022. In the 20-year history of Viterbo's MASL program, Rathgaber did something for his capstone project nobody had done before: he created a board game that brings to life the principles of servant leadership,

Remarkable Journeys

Ta Her's pursuit of a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree brought her back to Viterbo, where she earned a nursing degree in 2019. Little did she know her education would involve helping other Viterbo students learn about her Hmong culture. A native of Laos who came to this country at age 19, Her traveled to Thailand in May with a group of sophomore nursing students, sharing insights with them while on a journey of discovery herself,

Highlights of 2022-23

The newly released President's Report for 2022-23 takes a look back on the year's highlights at Viterbo, offering a sort of State of the University report with statistical details on last fall's incoming class as well as this year's graduating class. Leading off with a message from President Rick Trietley, the report also includes details on new academic programs, leadership changes, and honors and recognition.

42nd Street

A Celebration of Viterbo

This year's annual Viterbo Days alumni weekend will run Oct. 12-15, kicked off by the Day of Giving on Thursday and featuring four performances of the musical 42nd Street by students in Viterbo's Conservatory for the Performing Arts. 

The weekend also will include a choir concert with alumni chorus, a ceremony honoring this year's winners of Distinguished Alumni Awards, a 50-year reunion for members of the Class of 1973, a campus tour, and an alumni baseball game. 

We hope you'll mark your calendar and plan to join us.

A Busy Month Ahead

The Viterbo University Alumni Association has the following events coming up in August:
Aug. 2 (starting at 10 a.m.): St. Francis School of Nursing annual luncheon
Aug. 8 (5:30-7:30 p.m.): Alumni social at Titletown Brewing Co. in Green Bay
Aug. 12 (1-6:30 p.m.): Alumni soccer event with women's and men's games at Viterbo's Outdoor Athletics Complex and a post-game social at the Recovery Room
Aug. 14 (starting at 10:30 a.m.): Viterbo Athletics Golf Scramble (four-person scramble with lunch and dinner) at The Golf Club at Cedar Creek in Onalaska

Don't Miss This Trip of a Lifetime

There's still time to join Viterbo President Rick Trietley and university chaplain Fr. Conrad Targonski, OFM, on an alumni and friends trip to Italy, which will run Oct. 23-Nov. 1.

This Franciscan Pilgrimage Programs trip offers travelers experiences normally involved in a Franciscan Assisi pilgrimage, with tourist-oriented attractions added.

Cost is $3,500 (plus airfare), which must be paid in full by Aug. 24. The deadline to get a guaranteed spot on the Viterbo group flight is Aug. 9.
