Celebrating Viterbo Alumni
Viterbo University's 2022 Distinguished Alumni Award winners were honored Oct. 7 as part of Viterbo Days.
Six of the nine winners took part in person at the awards ceremony. Pictured here are, from left, Jed Barton '17, '20, , Elizabeth (Eckert) Maher '14, Rebecca (Arndt) Crecente '04, Viterbo President Rick Trietley, Donna (Role) Nelson '83, Libby Weber '10, and Mark Gruen '95.
Brian Soller '94, Barry Lee Moe '01, and Jhardon DiShon Milton '13 provided video messages because they were unable to attend the ceremony, which was recorded and can be viewed online.
Photographs of the weekend's activities also can be viewed in an online gallery. We also have a Wall of Fame gallery from the Sept. 24 ceremony honoring alumni (pictured below, from left) Breanne (Burry) Wineland '15, Evan Taylor '15, and Molly (Machometa) Frantz '16 as well as posthumously honoring Jean Moore, FSPA, and the Rev. Tom O'Neill.
Sr. Thea Bowman Documentary
The Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration hosted a preview screening of Going Home Like a Shooting Star, Sister Thea Bowman's Journey to Sainthood at the Nola Starling Recital Hall in the Fine Arts Center. Regina Siegel (pictured below), who portrayed Thea Bowman, FSPA '65, in the documentary's reenactment scenes on the Viterbo campus, attended the ceremony. The documentary aired in early October on ABC television stations across the country, and additional broadcasts are planned on ABC affiliates.
Day of Giving a Big Success
We don't yet have final numbers for Viterbo's fourth annual Day of Giving, but we know the generosity of our supporters on Oct. 6 exceeded all expectations. The online total (without all the offline gifts added) shows more than 700 gifts totaling more than $284,000. To all those who took part, we say THANK YOU! There's still a chance for those who missed out to add to our total on the Day of Giving page.
