The Viterbo campus is coming back to life, with faculty and staff kicking off the week Monday, Aug. 21, with a Mission Convocation event in the Fine Arts Center’s FSPA Lobby. In addition to a presentation from President Rick Trietley on the university’s strategic plan, the convocation featured insights from an alumni panel centering on the theme, "Living Our Mission," emceed by engineering Professor Emily Vanderfleet, Panel participants pictured above are, from left, Caitlin (Fallon) Caliri ’20, Jane Mathison ’16, Vanderfleet, Juan Jiménez ’01, ’06, Linsie Clements ’08, and Neal Zygarlicke ’11, ’12. FRIENDSHIP LEADS TO FELLOWSHIP: As a Viterbo student, Jim Loomis ’80 formed a deep friendship with Sr. Thea Bowman, FSPA ’65. To honor her, he created an endowed fellowship in her name to keep her memory and legacy alive, one last example of the generosity for which he was known. READ MORE
ANSWERING THE CALL: The Rev. Michael Churchill ’15 came to Viterbo to study nursing, and that’s what he did. But through campus ministry he also discovered a calling to serve the Lord. A year ago, he was ordained as a Catholic priest in the Winona-Rochester Diocese. READ MORE
A BIG BOWL OF SERVICE: A longtime social worker, Josh Court ’12 came to Viterbo for an MBA as he was drawn to take on leadership. In addition to his work at Gundersen Health System, he serves as director of La Crosse SOUP, an organization that crowdfunds community projects. READ MORE

Track and field athlete Keegan Bludworth ’16, ’17, golfer Danielle Ducklow ’18, and volleyball players Natalie Geidel ’18, and Amelia Grahn ’18 will be saluted in the annual Wall of Fame induction ceremony at 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, in the Fine Arts Center FSPA Lobby. 2023 St. John XXIII Award Winners
The most Rev. William Patrick Callahan (La Crosse Diocese Bishop), Joe Kotnour ’75, and Anh Pham, all of whom have a long history of serving others and giving back to their communities, will be presented with the Viterbo University Saint John XXIII Award for Distinguished Service at the 48th annual banquet and ceremony in the Fine Arts Center’s FSPA Lobby on Wednesday, Sept. 6.
The Saint John XXIII Award is the highest non-academic award bestowed by Viterbo University.

First Thursday Series Kicks Off Sept. 7 at Lost Island Winery
The Viterbo University Alumni Association kicks off the 2023-24 First Thursday alumni social series with a gathering from 5:30–7:30 p.m. Sept. 7 at Lost Island Winery, 507 Theatre Road, Onalaska.
Indoor and outdoor seating is available. Join us for a complimentary taco bar, while it lasts, catered by Rosie's Cafe. Thirsty Thursday specials are $1 off all glasses of wine, beer, and cider.
Viterbo communications staffer Randy Erickson, a member of blues/rock band Tabasco Cat, will perform a solo acoustic set. Guest vocalists are welcome.
